Subject: Analog synths?
Yesterday an advertisement for an sample CD of analog synths was
posted to the digest. I'm not complaining about this "commercial use,"
but I think, in all fairness, that everyone should also be informed about
the many analog synth samples that can be had for _free_ from the public
domain.
FTP the GUS Patchmaking Reference from the submit directory at
epas (filename patching.zip), and it will point you to several places on
the net where you can get analog synth samples for free (just FTP them).
You be the judge whether I've violated anyone's rights by
depriving them of a few customers for their 30$ sampling CD. :-)

Patch Maker Lite 1.10 should accept samples up to 256kB in length (although
it warns you if they are over 64kB just in case you want to make patches
for the older GUS software which did not support samples greater than that).

The new drivers with linear volume will fix this problem.

There seem to be two causes of MIDI port problems:
1) Disabled NMI. For some reason, the NMI must be working for you
to use the GUS' MIDI port in Windows.
2) Ultrajoy. A old, buggy version of ultrajoy causes problems with
the SB/MIDI IRQ on rev 3.4 GUSes. Since you have a 2.2 card,
this is probably not the root of your problem.
I haven't heard of many problems with the GUS' MIDI port in general.

I assume that the MIDI adapter is by Gravis?

Try removing Ultrajoy from your autoexec.bat if the installation program
placed it in there for you.

Subject: My first patch
Hi all,
I've put some patches on EPAS 'TECHPATS.ZIP' 44kHz/16bit. These patches
are taken from techno01.krz file.
If you DL these patches, I would like to hear your comments.

Subject: popless patches
Greetings Gusicians!
I've been trying for a few days to make some patches using PM Lite. I've
recorded at 8 bit, 44KHz, and the .wav file has sounded fine. The problem
is, when i convert the sample to a patch, i sometimes (not always) get
loud pops when the patch ends.
I've heard something about the GUS only playing samples in 32 byte (?)
chunks. Is this anything to do with it?
I've been getting round the problem by using note lengths slightly shorter
than the sample, so it fades out before the pop, but i'm sure there's a
better solution.
Any ideas?
Rob.
